The aim of my model was to examine the materiality of the building by focusing on the entrance area.From the exterior my design is quite pure in form. Thus I have chosen concrete as the primary material to be used in the building's construction.The walls consist of two layers of reinforced concrete, between which a layer of insulation is sandwiched. I intend the concrete to be dyed to give it a a charcoal grey colour.
The floor and roof are also concrete in structure. However I have chosen a wood finish for the floors and copper sheeting for the roof. These materials, which are warm in colour, stand in direct opposition to the cold concrete.
