New references
Some books of interest after today's site visit are
'Design Like you give a Damn' edited by Architecture for Humanity which has some interesting references relating to economy of means in building...
'A Lost Tradition' by Niall McCullough which beautifully documents Irish traditional methods of building within the landscape, particularly looking at the form of Irish courtyard construction, of which we have two examples on the site - the primary school and the factory...
'A Garden and Three Houses' by Jane Brown which describes a domestic project designed around existing trees, with common access facilities etc...an interesting precedent in relation to building amongst the vegetation and using the space between the buildings for shared space and circulation....
